Hey I’m okay with paying forty percent tax when it helps feed, clothe and shelter the needy and funds our universal healthcare.
I hardly think a tradie should be hitting a 40% tax bracket, let the rich pay the high rates not the struggling workers.
How much assistance do the rich need though so the workers should be funding most of it.
The rich who extract the wealth from the workers through not paying their fair share of profits should be paying most of it. (Or better yet not allowed to exist in the first place)
The people who need assistance are the ones least capable of paying for it.
They also create the jobs so they’re paying all that tax too.

The rich are more than well off, they can afford to pay their fair share as our planet dies from the ecological cost of their actions. We don’t need to go defending them.
