Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube continues global crackdown on ad blockers, targeting mobile third-party appsEnglish
12·14 days ago15 years ago I would have agreed with you, but it’s not just ads any more.
These companies track everything you do, share data with eachother, and create profiles on everybody.
If I were to follow you around keeping track of everything you do and share that info with my buddy who does the same thing, you would probably feel unsafe, and it’s illegal. It’s called stalking.
So why is ok for a corporation to do these things?
The 2026 Apple™ Pi™ looks sweet as hell
I had already learned this lesson, but then I changed careers, thought it might be different in the new industry, and I got sabotaged by a nepobaby.
For a human yes, but dogs loooooove to pee on stuff, even in the winter
I propose a 3rd option: a pair of pants for front and back legs. A male dog wouldn’t be able to pee in those.

2·22 days agoSweet. So why does it need to be done remotely? Why not a passcode?

The only “parental controls” you need are the keys.

Technology@lemmy.world•Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?English
4·26 days agoMy view is that 15 years ago (maybe longer) “ads are the price you pay” was valid. They weren’t tracking everything you do… yet. They’ve gone too far and until they stop there’s no reason for you play by the rules either.

What I do know is that it’s wrong enough that I should double check everything it says.

11·25 days agoJust yesterday AI told my brother that a run of 4 in crib is actually 2 runs of 3. I made him pull out the Bicycle official card game book and look up the rules because I knew that was wrong.
Why even use it if you have to double check everything it says?
If there’s nothing left worth participating in this doesn’t sound like a bad option

I just picked up a refurbished workstation for $200 to stream my main pc to the living room via Steam. Works like a charm 😎
It’s running Cachy OS and can play some light-weight titles by itself too.
