  • iPhone 4 (used) -> Xiaomi Mi4c (new) -> Xiaomi Mi9SE (new) -> Google Pixel 5 (used) -> Fairphone 5 (new)

    I think thats my list. Got the iPhone in 2012 or 13 from a friend. Im planning to keep the Fairphone at least until 2033 (thats how long they guarantee security updates right now) so thats around 4 yrs/phone in total, more like 3yrs until now. I used every one of those pretty much until their last breath, I even opened up two of them to replace the battery.

  • The title is very misleading. What it means is “for the first 97% of Homo Sapiens’ existence, there was no writing”, which just states something everyone more or less knows or has a feeling about. It says nothing about how much of what has happened in history has actually been recorded. I mean how would you even measure that? What is 100%? That would mean “all information”, so at least the atomic configuration of the whole earth. Even for a single instant, that would need more memory capacity than is available to all data centers combined (and its not a close call, you would need a data center 100+ times the size of earth to store that information)

  • And Im sure you know that it isnt while framing me as ableist and hiding behind a disability.

    I never said a disability is just an inconvenience. It is fact that Amazons practices are inhumane and the company is destroying millions of lives all over the world. Deciding to use their services to compensate for your disability is your choice and it may be more understandable than for most people without disabilities who arent even actively thinking about it and just giving in to laziness, but it is still not the morally superior one.

  • Im amazed every time people get upset by normal things that just seem inappropriate because of their (or our shared) insane privilege and ignorance.

    Why would we reuse pillowcases if we can just throw them away? People who think like this would buy new clothes after wearing them once if they had enough money for it not to make a huge difference.

    I shared a hotel room with a friend once and she came at me with “you left the roll of toilet paper with 4 sheets instead of just changing it, thats so disrespectful” and I was like “what the f are you talking about? Why should I throw away toilet paper that can still be used just because your lazy ass wants me to change the roll instead of doing it yourself when its empty?”
