the internet is an attention machine and outrage gets attention. talk to ppl irl and it’ll be more chill

process your feelings in a healthy way. for example, writing and making art about it; dancing, working out and doing sports to process it in a physical way; talk to trusted people; and, if you are experiencing depression, heightened anxiety, or other mental health symptoms, talk to a psychiatrist.

said often in an office context, not a youth thing in my experience

also i fear that “comfort” is losing the battle to “comfortability”

“This is the sort of bloody nonsense up with which I will not put.” - attributed to Churchill

(wiki says) it comes from Greek to Latin to English in the 16th century, so I’m sure it suffers a bit in modern transfusion.

“begging the question”. it’s not the same as “bringing up a question”, it means assuming your conclusion is true in the course of an argument

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critique_of_the_Gotha_Programme also worth reading. note that because these are 19th C documents written in that particular context, it’s also helpful to read about the docs in addition to their text

I’d couch it as being forced to work to make someone else rich in order to satisfy our basic needs.
there is always the need for work in the sense of “labor”, regardless of the society we live in. it’s a question of who benefits from this labor, who decides what labor is prioritized, and how the fruits are distributed.

not without organizing and fighting for it.

there are robust anti Microsoft and anti Google movements getting more and more mainstream over time. there are plenty of great alternatives to MS and Google software and services. Linux and FOSS as a whole is benefiting immensely from anti Microsoft sentiment right now. We can and should boycott these two terrible companies
“Avoiding fascist-supporting companies is inconvenient” is a poor excuse, especially when it’s so easy to degoogle compared to 10 years ago.

Also, as an aside, the right wing in your country (if they are anything like the right wing in both the US and Europe) will want to make your police forces more like American cops in order to brutalize immigrants and “others”, then anyone they can label as “other” even if they are currently accepted (e.g. LGBTQIA+ people, religious or cultural minorities), then extend it to anyone that disagrees with them. It’s up to you to organize with your neighbors against them, because they will tear your society apart as they are doing in the US and elsewhere. They may start with your border police or other specialized forces before attempting to coopt local police.

Police in the US originated from slave-catching militias and bounty hunters and developed from there as a means of oppressing, controlling, and re-enslaving (through convict leasing and prison labor) black people after slavery formally ended. At no point has preserving the lives, dignity, or well being of these people been a priority of police forces. All of this gets extended to anyone considered “other” or marginal from the majority.
Prison labor is big business in the US today and acts as a way of reducing the power of labor. This depends on a steady stream of new inmates, so capital pressures legislators and police departments to pass harsher laws and policies and ignore deescalation.
I know nothing about Norway, but I urge you to research how your police treat immigrants, indigenous peoples, and anyone else considered “other” in your society, compared to the majority. it won’t be like American cops, but i wonder what you’ll find.
There are many syllabuses available about the history of police and prisons in the US. if you want a real answer, try some of the materials here: https://www.aaihs.org/prison-abolition-syllabus-2-0/

i said “that N-word” not “the N-word”. but you knew that i knew what you meant.
i don’t need to entertain your dumb what-ifs. you’re testing the boundaries of the site by leaning on technicalities that, if we let you, you’ll just push further until you feel like you can post slurs and racist content in the clear.
you could be doing literally anything productive with your time, but you choose the saddest, cringiest shitposting. please touch grass.

if you didn’t post a racial slur, why is that N-word censored?

did you turn it off confess your sins, and turn it back on again?
