1022·9 days agoLadybird if anyone wants to watch this space, I’m most excited to see them succeed.
Ladybird is a new browser engine built from scratch. Not a fork. No user monetization. Backed by a 501©(3) non-profit. Status: In active development Target: Alpha 2026 (Linux & macOS) Get involved Support us About
The web is the most important platform in computing, yet only a small number of browser engines power the entire thing, each controlled by a company with its own agenda.
Ladybird is building something new: an independent engine, driven by web standards, and free from conflicts of interest.
Our first Alpha release for Linux and macOS is coming in 2026.
What makes Ladybird different Truly independent
We’re building a new browser engine from scratch, based on web standards. Not a fork of an existing engine. Singular focus
We are focused on one thing: building a web browser. No monetization
No “default search deals”, crypto tokens, or other forms of user monetization.

Technology@lemmy.world•Proton Mail Suspended Journalist Accounts at Request of Cybersecurity AgencyEnglish
0·1 year agoThere’s a lot more nuance to it than just ‘Proton CEO supports Trump (and therefore all of Trump’s policies)’
From the comments: “Andy’s statement was to recognise the choice of the Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust division at DOJ. This is someone who has history of going after tech monopolies and allowing room for the little guys (startups) to have a fair chance to grow and innovate. This was not a political endorsement.”
And at the very least the CEO controversy reveals all the issues with America’s two party Sith or Jedi system, there’s no room for nuance or discussion, just rage. Look at all the other top comments here.

Cooking @lemmy.world•There's a convenience food that is not available at most grocery stores. One that I would pay extra for. Day old refrigerated rice. I would make fried rice more often.English
1·1 year agoJust freeze it in a bag, and defrost when you’re ready for fried rice. You can also use long or medium grain rice, or cook your rice al dente, and you don’t have to wait for it to be a day old for fried rice.

Perfect. My favorite way to play Stardew is to freeze time and energy and just attack the mines and skull cavern until I die. With a bit of fishing on the side.
Since there’s no farming focus, I hope they dont buil the day night cycle in Haunted Chocolatier.
