  • Literally EVERYTHING developed in the United States was innovated by an employee and then the value of that innovation was stolen by their employer.

The United States doesn’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to claiming to innovate. The people who do the actual innovation aren’t mentioned and barely get paid enough money to live.

China literally claims to be a communist country. Well, what’s that mean? It means that when knowledge is known, it’s fair game for the country to use in order to make things better for everyone in the country.

The United States, on the other hand, has the ability to produce enough medication for literally every person who needs it, but creates laws so that businesses can control the production of drugs in order to make as much money as possible regardless of however many people die in the US from not getting the medicines they need.

    Make it make sense.

  • I don’t know if you’re familiar with how VPNs work, but it’s basically like a computer in the other country is sharing its internet connection with you.

So let’s imagine that things are reversed, and you’re a VPN provider in the United States and you’re sharing your internet connection with some computers in another country, like Saudi Arabia, for example.

And just to be clear, you conduct no business in Saudi Arabia. You’re just sharing your internet connection with people from there. You don’t have any associates in Saudi Arabia, and you have no intention of ever going to Saudi Arabia.

And let’s say that Saudi Arabia passed a law that said VPN providers had to block some kind of content, like maybe banning all access to content about your favorite band.

How is this going to affect the VPN service you provide to the other computers?

  • I mean, the optics of this externally are:

    1. Massive warmongering country which doesn’t invest in educating, feeding, or providing safety or healthcare for its citizens and doesn’t invest in its own infrastructure decides to switch to a limited supply of energy that makes people unhealthy and tries to deny said energy to other countries in order to harm and literally torture them, versus

    2. Much more massive country with a history of innovating and pulling a billion people out of poverty(and not just the standard of that first country, but actually the more massive country’s much higher standard for poverty), which is doing a lot to invest in educating, feeding, and providing safety and healthcare for its own systems and investing massively in its own infrastructure and is quickly switching to solar and other renewable forms of energy and is quickly using dedesertification to try to stop and reverse the spread of deserts and turn them back into forests and vegetation, and is providing energy to a country that said first country is trying to deprive.

The optics look really bad for the first country.

  • Well that’s not correct.

Engineers are great at developing a product.

But having someone at the end who’s using the product and insisting on consistency because he’s anal-retentive and a pain in the ass will mean the product is consistent with the evaluator’s goals.

macOS used to have a lot of underlying features that worked consistently no matter which app you were using, and Apple destroyed that.

Either Jobs was having an effect, or it’s a damned strange coincidence that the severe reduction in consistency in macOS started just at the point that he died.
