I don’t know what it feels like to unearth ancient Roman artifacts, but finding out that weird process nobody understands is actually just dead code is a lot of fun! It’s not a bad career route.
Sure, but you need to do something for that money. You’ll probably have docs for what, but you’ll often need to dig through the code for the how.
Learning .NET is easy, the hard part is understanding the business. You can buy books or training for whatever language, but once the people who thought up the logic of the system leave, all you can do is archeology.
