Ouroboros can have a little ouroboros, as a treat

Monilla on sanottavaa, kaikilla on vaiettavaa; puhutaan siis, ja ollaan yhtä hiljaa.

  • My late dobie would shred the big bags open and eat herself stuffed, if she managed to get to them. Had to have all dog food in closed and locked containers, because she could open doors as well. She would also eat anything tasty left on the tables and could always reach them, so our kitchen was very minimalistic. My retriever though, now takes it even further, and eats even the vegetables if they are left out. Sigh.

  • I wish I had that self-control all the time! Sometimes my autistic mind can only answer to what is asked, and with strangers I cannot often even change the subject. My head just goes blank, and I exist as something else than myself. My thoughts are the words that come out of my mouth, and I know what they are only, as I say them. It is wild, and kind of scary.

  • Is it a mistake, if you still do it, while knowing it will likely get you killed? And I am not preaching against violent protesting here, just saying that a lot of “non-violence” approaces, still require self-sacrifice. Either you do the violence, or the violence is done to you; both can work or fail in a protesting situation, depending on the situation itself. But for non-violence to be effective at all, means being ready to die, and it seems to me like a lot of people speaking for it, are not.

  • And my point is just, that valuing that utilitarian viewpoint over other things, is not a stance a lot of people consider ethical. It is a choice, to end up with that being the “end result” of ethical thinking - there is no single right answer. Someone might think that the suffering caused to an individual, by them being killed without consent, weights more than potential suffering that might happen in the future. Then we get to how we define suffering. And then… ethics are always a mess, with only increasing amount of difficult questions, and no “absolutely correct” answers to any of them.

  • The thing is, minimization of suffering is not the only thing to consider in ethics, it is a very complicated matter. For example freedom, the individual’s right to decide themselves, is often considered at least on par with it; deciding to kill something, because you think it is best for them, is not often seen as very ethical.
Personally I think there just is no single solid ethical Truth, that decides what the Good is (since ethics are human things, and humans are far from infallible or all-knowing), it is more of an ongoing discussion, about what that means. But we should still strive towards that Good, even if we are not quite sure what it is, or change our minds about what it is. In fact, a person thinking they are absolutely sure something is Right, is a sign, that they should not slam that door shut. Only a sith deals in absolutes, essentially lmao.

  • I would even argue, that nature as a whole, cannot be ethical, since the ecosystem is essentially build on organisms eating each other. And nothing outside human experience can, really, if we get to technical nitpicking. Ethics are things created out of human mind, they do not exist outside us… Anyway, that does not mean you cannot aim for being as ethical as possible. Since ethics are real to us, if we want to be Good, we should all strive towards that.

  • Like 25% of English words are straight from Latin, and up to 75% have etymological roots in Latin (according to one Latin professor). And the grammatical rules are not divided equally by the “source” languages, either. It is an amalgam, but the flexibility stemming from the roots, is not so simple.

(Also maybe hilariously in this context, as a native Finnish speaker, to me English appears as a very stiff language. In my own, word order does not really matter, you can basically create as many new words as you like, with combining words and switching the endings to change their grammatical role, and most words can be bent, to have a lot of different nuance with just tweaking the endings a bit. The classic funny example being: juoksen, juoksentelisinkohan / I run, I wonder if I should run aimlessly around in short bursts.)

  • Are you okay? Honestly I do not understand, what you are saying there. Nazi pushing nazi propaganda, and then getting their ass kicked for it, is completely different, from someone making bland comics about popular issues, even if they are using unethical means of pushing those. Like, in what way are these things connected as a metaphora? And how does that relate, to the subject of my earlier comment pointing out, that it is okay to support things, people are not experiencing themselves?
