It’s kinda true. When coding by myself, I hardly ever manually type the semicolon myself, I just rely on the auto format to insert it for me.

Asked like this, I might actually prefer being left behind, thank you.

Technology@lemmy.world•Someone ‘Torturing’ LLMs in a Robot Prison Has Triggered the Dumbest Debate in 'AI' YetEnglish
11·8 days agoDepends on how you’re viewing this. If you take something useful out of it, sure, it has some value, but if you just leave it running like that just for the lulz, it’s almost the same as leaving the heater on with the windows open.

201·10 days agoI don’t care about LLM welfare, but I do mind needlessly wasting energy like this.
I can’t imagine the amount of emails I’d have if on top of the hundreds I have to skim over I also had ones for accepted/declined invitations.
Replace it with:
“WHY WAS SCHOOL?”

Technology@lemmy.world•F-Droid gets its biggest update in a decade with new UI and smoother app installsEnglish
2·17 days agoAh, right. It’s still tagged as beta, maybe that’s why it doesn’t appear in other places (like in the news article on their site).
Thanks for the tip.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘I miss old Google’: readers tell us how they search the internet in the age of AIEnglish
1·17 days agoCould be, but consider even the simplest example: being logged in, searching for something, then with the same browser, same everything, you log out and repeat the search: you will most likely get slightly different results. That might overlap with what you described as well.

10·17 days agoCould be a gradual rollout.
Edit: saw it’s actually still a beta (and probably this is why it doesn’t show), here’s a link for the APK: https://f-droid.org/repo/org.fdroid.fdroid_2000050.apk

Technology@lemmy.world•‘I miss old Google’: readers tell us how they search the internet in the age of AIEnglish
5·18 days agoYeah, in the end it depends on the use case. Some things are a simple search away, others need compiling of information (manually or with the help of an LLM).

Technology@lemmy.world•‘I miss old Google’: readers tell us how they search the internet in the age of AIEnglish
12·18 days agoLLMs have saved internet searching. For the first time in years, i am getting (usually) relevant information for my questions.
I tend to disagree on that part. LLMs in a web search should be opt in, not opt out. They do help, but not always. For many searches that I have the answer right in the first result (sometimes even in its preview along the link) there’s an LLM running and needlessly wasting resources, summarising very often what I already know.

261·18 days agoI missed the old Google maybe 15 years ago when I switched away from it as a default search. It’s not the AI.
… and the irony that there would be a dead link on someone’s gravestone the moment the company goes out of business… unless someone goes there and peels off the sticker.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something that's crazier than the wildest dreams of any ~1970s nerd, but exists today? I'll start with an easy one:
9·23 days agoHaving better Internet almost anywhere, in your pocket - compared to the wired Internet even 20, not 50 years ago.

Reminds me of the WD-40-scented perfume (regardless of if it’s even real or not).
