  • It’s not a legally binding term - it can be used sarcastically, or as a plot device. Has someone been murdered in North Dakota ever? Close enough to count for Fargo. Is the Fargo show based on the movie that was released named Fargo? Maybe that’s what 2 writers thought up at 3:42am on a Tuesday. WHo knows.

Specifically with Coyote v. Acme, it’s one of those “no reasonable person would interpret this as being real” standard. It’s a cartoon coyote. It’s a joke. It should make you laugh because it’s obviously not based on a true story.

You can’t possibly understand that Fargo using it was a form of dark humor and then expect that a movie about a cartoon coyote should be based on a true story, right? What is this cognitive dissonance?

  • Na, man. This whole story is fire.

First new Olympics outside of Europe held in… St. Louis? In the summer? Ick.

Things were such a mess that only 12 nations showed up.

First ever use of the 3 medal system (gold, silver, bronze).

Tug of War was a legit Olympic sport.

The “Racist Shit” was the incomprehensibly terrible human zoo stuff. Bonus that an Indian Boarding School girls basketball team apparently played. And then they had competitions like “baseball throwing” for the human zoo folks.

This isn’t even worth a movie. A whole season of 6 or 8 one-hour episodes. Easily.

  • Y’all, what causes a haunting isn’t fully known, but it very obviously (to anyone that pays attention to these things) involves a combination of factors.

Typically, more than one factor needs to be involved:

    Someone dies violently.

Someone dies that lived a shitty love and is afraid of final judgment.

Someone died with unfinished, urgent or important business.

A location where someone did a lot of work that they used to identify themselves.

Replay hauntings seem to be placed where someone experienced a prolonged stressful situation in that location. That be be someone haunting a place that died elsewhere.

Places where both mental health issues and stress were left to simmer for years.

Someone fucked around with a oiuja/spirit board a lot in a place.

Water or stone, especially both, plus a prolonged stress factor.

Some hauntings seen to only manifest when certain people are in the space. Especially poltergeists.

There’s no one way to get a haunting. Much of it depends on severe emotional states. Otherwise it would be a repeatable process. But, like it or not, it does seem to be something that humanity has experienced since we learned how to error down what was going on.

  • My mother, and one of my nieces, think this way.

They do a ton of work for a man they think should tell them how to live life. Even how to vote. They gladly abdicate their agency as a human so they “don’t have to think about silly things like politics.”

The irony is my mother is an incredibly strong woman. But it’s religion that makes her think this way. My nice is just very much a people pleaser, and her fiance is just the baby of the family, so he makes demands and expects everyone else to clean up after him.
