i won’t let other people tell me what to do
social media was unavoidable. there’s just too much curiosity about the novelty. but yeah, it’s questionable today.

if that is my company, i’m not hiring you if you bring starbucks iced coffee. that’s not because i don’t like iced coffee, but because you clearly lack a brain. who would pay $8 for that overpriced stuff.

“ad” as in … hey here’s a distraction to make it harder for you to focus on what you were actually just about to do

technically one doesn’t even need a turbine to make the power useful. you could just use it like a rocket engine to exhaust backwards, to propel yourself forward through recoil.

okay then i meant a kettle

the exact search query was “teapot steam” but otherwise, yeah

didn’t check, picked the first i saw and liked

yeah, most slop content already existed before chatgpt and was written by humans. kind of like a student is asked to write “a minimum of 500 words for their homework assignment”, too many bloggers copied that attitude to their blogs.

the reason why google search results went to shit is because google did some basic maths.
99% of search queries actually ask for information that you can find on one of the top websites. only about 1% actually care about anything besides that.
so if you deliver results only due to a rather superficial algorithm, you will still retain about 99% of your userbase, but the computation cost for finding these results would go down dramatically. so you save a lot of money on electricity, while serving almost as many ads. it pays off for google.

nowhere, it’s a lost cause. if your disk is encrypted, nuke it and restore from a backup. it’s just a nuisance (assuming you made enough backups) and interrupts your daily workflow. therefore it’s bloatware.

well said. true, large solar parks are more efficient than garden solar panels. and data centers are more efficient than if i run my own server in my garage. still, they could both be located in the same village that i live in, instead of on the other side of the world.

you’re completely right. there’s tons of problems with the way that we organize information today. another big issue is that a lot of publicly funded scientific research is behind paywalls of journals, and the journals don’t even have a good indexing system where you could easily search for stuff! it’s infuriating.

i think they mostly grow in the coastal regions though?

yeah but even if only 1 pixel changes, if you take the hash value of the image data, you’ll still get some entirely different numbers.

ideas are viruses, neatly packaged into books and flyers and quotes, they spread from person to person and multiply if they fall on fertile ground.
you fell for the “move to the countryside” incentive. they give you money to move in the middle of nowhere, then you pay for that circumstance for the rest of your life with poor transportation, no jobs, expensive maintenance etc.
also you went into farming while also having severe physical health issues?? really?
