PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Flathub walked back their generative AI ban, replaced with a disclosure policyEnglish
2·5 days agoYeah. Imho, they’d be no point of adding it if there wasn’t. should also describe the extent too, like whether its code, music only, video’s, or other assets. etc… Or just that its used for patches

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta Is Refusing to Remove AI-Generated Facebook Videos of Graphic Child Abuse, Including a Baby Roasting in an Oven. Meta is making it clear: it doesn't care about AI-generated child abuse videos.English
11·5 days agoReally? I’ve reported literal attempts to encourage violence against people, and its NEVER against community standards
Hence why in Australia, going to be super happy if the law passes to allow us to forcefully only show things we’re subscribed to.
There’s going to be so many right wing ragebaiters getting upset

142·5 days agoYeah. As long as you’re forced to disclose everyone wins really.
It also benefits devs who don’t use it

Dad Jokes@lemmy.world•Pilots never get flustered flying fixed-wing aircraftEnglish
3·9 days agoActually, I just remembered, helicopters experience flap-back, so technically, they are “flappable” too

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple's A20 Pro shatters Geekbench 7 single-core record — 2nm chip beats desktop Intel Core i9 and AMD Ryzen 9 by up to 32%English
2·11 days agoIt didn’t take long for more info to come out about the A20, and the suspected compromises that are being made on the iPhone: https://wccftech.com/apple-a20-solder-joint-leak-base-iphone-18-compromises/ . I also used to sell their gear for 3 years
Pretty much every company has been busted cheating on benchmarks, including Nvidia and Intel (its easy to do, just detect the starting frames, or/and the exe). And, I spent all of last week optimising code using benchmarks (and profiling)
On Desktop applications in particular, Apple’s biggest failure has always been GPU. Which is why testers often test things like encoding (it has a chip designed to accelerate video encoding), CPU, and rarely games.
Like my M2 Mac Studio looked awesome in benchmarks (Toms hardware did one too). They didn’t test games, because if they tested things like Raytracing, they would have discovered the M2 never had raytracing built in (and, computers which cost the same price DID at the time)
My Mac Pro looked awesome on paper too (it even needed FB ECC Dimms to work). The GPU was absolute slop compared to what PC’s were shipping, which is why sites only ever seemed to test Apps…
If someone like Steve was testing this, I’d trust it immediately. But the entire premise of the article is around 1 benchmark… And for all we know, they might have been testing against absolute crap products

Open Source@lemmy.ml•F-Droid's New App Shows it Isn't Going Anywhere
31·11 days agoYeah… I wasn’t aware of that. I think I tried apps like Control4 and Sonos and couldn’t find them, and then bailed (this was a few days ago).
The apps I saw when opening it, just (at least at first glance), didn’t really feel like top tier apps, but I might try it again, as I didn’t know you could add more repos
What I’m really hoping is that Steam opens a Android App store

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it just me, or are people becoming more prudish?
32·13 days agoNo, you’re telling people how they should communicate, because you’re (ironically) getting offended that some people are self-censoring… Hence the “Can people knock it off, please?”. That sure sounds like an attack…
Just because a lot of us swear, doesn’t mean we feel we have to write swear words everywhere where kids might be reading it.
And, what annoys me, is that, if you weren’t the one who told me off long ago about this, then there is more than 1 person here who are basically trying belittle people who don’t communicate in a way that they approve…
In another one of your posts, you’re also attacking younger people who follow rules…

Technology@lemmy.world•Copper prices could reach $22,050 per ton by mid-2027English
4·13 days agoIt depends what happens after. If trump goes to prison and they’re proactive yes. If he gets forced to go to the international court for war crimes, yes. Even more so if they start investigating his kids
If he pardons himself or just gets a fine. No no no

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it just me, or are people becoming more prudish?
23·13 days agoOh no. Who gives a sh**
Seems like you’re making a big deal about nothing…
I’ve probably come more people whining about this and pretending like it’s about government control or whatever, as people getting offended by swear words
It’s just as bad, if not worse because you’re trying to control freedom of speech. People can choose to censor if they wish.
You can choose to use an uncensored source

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it just me, or are people becoming more prudish?
32·13 days agoIt’s funny, because I self censored and it triggered someone a few months ago on Lemmy.
It’s even more wild people are getting offended by stupid things like this imho. Almost like they need to be acknowledged to be reminded they’re normal.
The funny thing is, I probably swear more than anyone I know in real life most the time but I don’t feel like I need to make it part of my personality lol

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Nintendo Switch 2 should have been called Super Nintendo Switch
8·13 days agoThey should have named the joy-cons the super drift controller too
Although, considering that all of the joy-cons all seem to eventually fail, the “con” part of the name was certainly appropriate

40·13 days agoDon’t make a lot of noise about this, or Trump will get the idea to interfere with the domain registries too and try to control them
In their defence, the one thing AI does do well is Code review. But, it makes too many absolutely sh** assumptions when helping customers troubleshooting.
I feel the problem is that because its a paid tool, it’s not a good look if they simply acknowledge “we’re guessing, and its a crap guess”
Looks like there is an angry cryptobro downvoting responses who dare talk shit about claude in this thread lol

This is a schmozzle. Way too late
