We are talking about U.S. President Ronald Reagan, so that hardly seems relevant.

Huh? I think you need to pay better attention to user names.

None of the tech workers I know have been resistant to the idea of unions and neither am I. I would say it’s the exact opposite actually, like there is always some reason I can’t join whatever union or that we can’t form a new one for tech workers. So you end up with this tiny group of devs in the CWA, and this other tiny group in the UAW, and a bunch more who work at a place that has a contract with the IBEW but they can’t join that and on and on and that’s before we even get started on the number of people who are now considered contractors and can’t join whatever union anyway.
I’m not sure why a community would do that, like are there any that restrict voting? It’s a fundamental part of the platform.
If we waited until everybody was ready for every feature we would never get any features. I’m really not sure that “third party apps aren’t finished yet” is an argument against using a feature of the platform.
Personally the issue I have is that this is what crossposting is for. Posting it over and over just takes up more space on servers that are largely paid for by donations.

I think a really good ‘for instance’ of what we are talking about is the Pentium Overdrive released in the early-mid 90s. It was a Pentium class processor designed to fit the 486 (previous generation, also where the Pent part of Pentium came from) socket. They have never not been able to backport new instruction sets they just don’t and now we have even more evidence of that.

That’s literally what I am doing right now. I cannot see well with out my glasses at all but there is something about the day not starting until I put them in that leaves me laying here.
Shot glasses are usually pretty small and peanut m&ms are relatively large, $1 for what probably amounts to ~6 m&ms sounds like a rip off.

No tone, just wondering why you reiterated the part about millennials in their 30s back to me.

Did… Did you not read my original comment?

Then who exactly is this meme about?

Just throwing it out there that only a tiny fraction of GenXers were old enough vote in the 1980 or even the 1984 elections. I am in my 30s and only one of my parents was old enough (and definitely did not vote for Reagan, I have seen their Mondale button), the other first voted for President in 1988.

Thank you. That would have been a lot easier to figure out too if it was IWDOTH.

You have to remember that Michelin is a French company, so the Michelin star guide was originally about getting the French public to drive to French restaurants.

I’m still pissed at Google for buying and then killing rather than integrating Songza. The only thing we kinda got from that was the moods radio in Google music.

Unfortunately, not Plex. Plex has the absolute worst fucking shuffle mechanism I have ever used in my entire fucking life. It will literally play things in the exact same order multiple times in a row like days later. And in the Plexamp app, it will literally not play past like the fourth track on any album.

I remember reading this about the iPod, where they programed it to not play the same artist multiple times in a row or within certain number of songs of each other.

That only makes sense if money is made on the output. What you’re basically saying is X Toy Company will make more money if they make more toys. What you’re forgetting is that there has to be a demand for those toys. So X Toy Company can’t replace workers with AI unless there’s more demand for the toys than there is currently able to be fulfilled and there’s no evidence for that across all sectors of the economy.
Generations are limited to countries or handfuls of countries. Cohorts are created by shared experiences and those experiences are rarely global. For instance in Russia the Gen X equivalent is called “the last Soviet children” and as you can imagine their experiences aren’t exactly the same as those who make up Gen X.
