  • there are some very narrow uses where AI is actually useful. Most of what it’s used for is junk though. The early internet was the same way, but at least that was charming about it. I doubt that a website comprised of 1200 clipart hamster gifs and a pitch toned clip of a song from Disney’s Robin Hood is going to hack a competing Sites mainframe looking for ways to inflate its page veiws.

The AI bubble will burst, companies will actually sit down, pull their heads out of their asses, and actually apply it to something useful, as it was originally conceived.

well that’s true for other animals as well. The “objectionable” part is the controlled breeding. If you were to single out the smart ones that DID excell and made them have kids eventually you would start to see results. But indeed, that is the rub. It’s wrong to force that sort of thing upon people with out their consent. That’s why Eugenics doesn’t work, not because the theory is unsound.

bud, Eugenics (as a theory) is not incorrect, just how stupid, evil people apply it. It’s the reason African americans dominate American sports: The slavers spent 300 years breeding them for strength and endurance, because that’s also what makes a good slave. It’s morally wrong, yes (100%), but it’s also objectively true.

  • I’ve always seen the end state as too difficult to stabilize. Mixed systems where Socialist ideals keep capitalist ones in check seem to work best long term because it satisfies natural human ambition without allowing the monied interests to acquire to much social and political power. (the New Deal, Nordic model)

Under most communist systems, especially in democratic societies, ironically, the proletariat still lacks true power as the operators of the means of production (the foreman or the managers) end up also being the leaders of the government. This is no different than oligarchy, just inversed.

In a proper system, there should be a separation of business and state just as there is a separation of church and state; for precisely the same reason.
