PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Valve on the Steam Frame: 'I wish we could have shipped it at the price that we were at last year'English
30·22 days agoGamers Nexus went over the privacy concerns with the Meta Quest 3 and they’re arguably worse than LGs TV fiasco. That is the price you pay for cheaper devices in this market. I’d rather the extra price overhead rather than giving a corporation access to everything in my home with cameras and microphones attached to my face but that’s just me.

Technology@lemmy.world•LG smart TVs caught logging audio with screen off and snooping on local devicesEnglish
2·29 days agoIn the video they explained that the TV seemed like it was trying to find and connect to any connection available (some routers allow auto-connection for easy integration). This would probably be a huge issue in an apartment building or townhome situation.
I’m not entirely sure if they mentioned that was with Wifi enabled or disabled… But given that, even with the microphone input disabled, it records you from “other microphones” available, seemingly hidden, or through other devices connected to the TV… I assume they have a Wifi chip that is always enabled and searching.
If it’s direct play, this makes sense, but it sounds like maybe they are transcoding video

2·30 days agoDoes Fred TV work with a remote? Jellyfin was great but I couldn’t find an IPTV service that worked well with a remote. Fred TVs interface is also not great compared to something like Tivimate

0·2 years agoAn open-source factorio like game. You can play it on PC or your phone, and it has a self hostable server that is relatively easy to setup.
Edit: I’m really glad to see this game is pretty well known!
Yeah and then the non-tech gamers get locked out and don’t have their back up code and bitch that they should just go back to discord “because it just works”.
