2·21 days agoHumanity is a great Civ alternative. Much more responsible and responsive developer and publisher. They also do the endless legend and endless space strategy games.
Fantastic soundtracks and art style. Very well polished games.

2·21 days agoThe learning curve is quick, it has different AI “Storytellers” called Phoebe Basebuilder that can give you a more chill experience.
And then there is Cassandra Classic for the dev curated experience that is challenging without being impossible.
And then there is Randy Random for when you absolutely have to have the slavers abducting your colonists get hit by a chunk of Uranium from space.
Without a doubt, this game has the highest levels of replayability I have ever seen in a game.

2·21 days agoA lot of the Civ displeasure, is related to the scummy practices of the publisher. They tend to release a game with very little content and then proceed to sell you dozens of overpriced DLCs for features and content, that the previous entries had in the base game.

2·21 days agoJust avoid the second one. Take2 abandoned it and closed the developer, but left it unfinished in early access, so they can still scam people out of money.

I am thinking this is the one we need

And we need to start calling it, sucking up economics.
Also to add to your list.

- Obama betrayal to the Oligarchs.
- You will own nothing and be happy.
- 2008 recession and ongoing housing capture
- America exiting the rules based international order.
- Climate denial turning into climate-“fuck off, we are a death cult”

2·2 months agoThe way I understood it, it was more about joining the allies in case the soviets decided to go from WW2 directly into WW3.
They are real people
XZ Utils (maintained single-handedly by Lasse Collin) is widely regarded as the most critical infrastructure library run by one person. Its near-catastrophic compromise in 2024 revealed how global digital security hinges on solo, thanklessly managed open-source projects. Other major examples include cURL (Daniel Stenberg) and SQLite (D. Richard Hipp)

It’s called laughing, and the ghosts are angry.
