Yep, pretty sure it was in Colour of Magic, which I read not too long ago

Did you think I somehow implied that they are? I’m confused

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL some Scandinavian countries eat blood pancakes. (made with whipped reindeer blood.)English
16·11 days agoThey are not typically made with reindeer blood, as is incorrectly stated on Wikipedia. The alleged source for this claim even says so:
While most recipes use pig or cow blood, any sanguine supply will do. The Sami people of northern Norway use reindeer.
TIL there are still egregious errors on Wikipedia. I guess it could be a case of updated source?
Implying that breasts (or women?) are inherently sexual?
Doesn’t really make sense though. I assume autocorrect

From cycling? I thought that was supposed to be gentle on the knees!
But alas, the slop
It’s basically “Don’t dead open inside”. The woman argues it should be read as “sale sale” or seru seru in japanese, while the cat is reading it as “sasa lele” or sasa rere. (I figured this out from other comments)

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Family sues daycare over alleged toddler ‘fight club’ at the facilityEnglish
2·29 days agoOh, you’re right. I misunderstood the layout and didn’t realize they stacked multiple different stories on top of each other. I was skimming and apparently mostly read “A Mom Says Her Baby Came Home From Daycare With a Swollen Hand, and Doctors Later Found Three Broken Bones Nobody Had Reported” further down the page.

23·29 days agoThis story looks like bullshit. Nevermind the meandering structure or the AI ‘verbal’ tics - the “original story” source is a reddit link.I apparently read a different story on the same page.

politics @lemmy.world•Key Texas county votes to cut polling sites ahead of the midtermsEnglish
2·1 month agoThe roughly 30% reduction leaves the county with 224 polling sites to serve 1.3 million voters. Voters in the county are able to cast ballots at any of those polling sites.
Yeah, as a joke it works best on paper.
She’s screeching (“AAAH!”) to echo-locate an object. She is then pleased with her progress (“RIGHT THERE!”, “THAT’S IT!”).
No, the joke was that the only other language you could write stories in must be a programming language … aaaaand I’m only now realizing this isn’t a c/programmer humor. Sorry, I was tired.
And I’m also a non-native English speaker. Building narratives is hard enough without tripping over another language - using your native one is fine, no? You could always have the story translated later if you want it in English. However, I disagree with the idea you seem to have that if you have an accent then that disqualifies whatever you just did in English. As long as it gets the point across, it’s good enough. But if you’re really struggling, you could probably seek out someone to help you work on those hard-to-pronounce words.
… but you can do it in code?

Autist passing through here. I can rarely nap without messing up my night sleep. I like to do a little “NSDR (non-sleep deep rest)”* relaxation exercise though (I actually use the same one when I go to sleep, too). I find it helps since it gives me something to focus my attention on. Just thought I’d mention it in case it’s useful.
* I still use this one from when Andrew Huberman had credibility. Annoying intro/outro, but pretty good otherwise.
