Amen, brotha! I am so sick of being solicited, constantly.

I prefer America the Beautiful myself.

LOL. I like your moxie.

I’m an engineer. Typically I interviewed with various disciplines and bosses. Lunch was usually a softball interview to make a candidate more comfortable. The last interview I had, I was considered a high value interviewee (not sure if I deserved that) but it meant I was asked to give a presentation during lunch. It can be pretty brutal honestly. Some places are worse than others. I heard that Google and Agilent would sometimes ask candidates to solve equations. There’s no way I could perform like that in front of people.
To bring it back to the topic, I do think it would be a bad look to bring in a Starbucks to the interview.

I think it depends on the situation. My interviews typically lasted all day. Lunch was included and I believe at least once I was actually offered coffee. Personally I wouldn’t bring mine. I don’t consider it a burden to go without for one interview. Plus I usually had some kind of notebook with me with examples of my work and a copy of the interview schedule that was provided to me as well as other documentation. It all becomes a bit too much to carry if you add coffee. But if it’s a more casual atmosphere, no biggie. I mean, I wouldn’t likely show up in a suit for a job at the Mc Donald’s drive-thru.
On the other hand how does the coffee drinker act. Is this person placing a sweaty drink container on the interviewer’s desk? Slurping loudly during an interview question?
So I think it’s situation dependent.

I find it interesting that, if their AI gets out of control, there’s nothing they can do about it, but if a USER of that AI gets out of control, there is something they can do about it…

I noticed this too. Looking back on how things were in the’80s and '90s. Seems like a lot of those things are not OK today. Seems weird in a society that so routinely treats people like trash. You can kill them but you damn well better say on YouTube that you “unalived them.” Stupid.

WTF? Really? Strongly disagree.

Normally yes but I think they weren’t actual signing bonuses. To be honest, I read somewhere that some were quitting because they were afraid they would never get the bonuses, but I neither remember the source, not its veracity. But a lot of times it’s Lemmy.

I thought they didn’t get the money until they reached a milestone, like 3 years later.

What I really want to know is, were the people putting out workslop, putting out anything better BEFORE AI. I mean, maybe they are just using a different tool to suck.
I think instead of stating that their performance was going to be measured by the quantitative measure of how much AI they used, instead of the qualitative measure of output, while making AI available to them, the CEO might have seen different results.
It’s almost like malicious compliance. “Hey everyone, do this.” Then they all do JUST that. What would you expect? LOL.

Are they doing the triathlon there too?

Microsoft Word had been doing this for decades. In fact so does my ducking phone.

I bet a lot of people wish they could be put on paid leave.

Thank you so much to the Trump administration for raising gas prices LESS than the most he could have. That’s a job we’ll done. Now let’s get that arch and ball room constructed!

Love that old song.

All cars built after September 2027 in the US must have surveillance technology on board to detect impaired drivers and restrict the operation of the vehicle if impairment is detected. This includes drowsiness. Which means they can track your eyes. Not a big step at all to not only detect if a phone is in use but to record that data.
So, if the bots are underage, then they’re denied access?
