  • This artist’s gags (at least the ones that make it to this comm) are all anti-AI. It’s like their thing. That said while Google search has been getting (intentionally) bad for a while it’s been ridiculous recently, and since it’s intentional anyway* it’s not hard to imagine that funneling users to Gemini is their new thing.

*I remember reading a couple years ago that they had back rolled an update that improved search results, but not the details.

  • Anyone who has the cultural background to properly interpret this story in context, please raise your hand.

Raises hand the idea behind a gender-segregated wedding is that it’s, well, gender-segregated. According to the article an exception is usually made for the groom to take the bride from the women’s section, but the city council in question was like “wait this defeats the point” and wanted to outlaw that exception. The groom isn’t banned from the whole wedding, just the women’s section. As for why do any of that, gender-segregation is a universal part of tradition and/or religion (this is a meaningful distinction because they do disagree sometimes, just not here) in Muslim societies, so it’s something socially conservative people will want to do out of principle.

  • China is backing Russia for basically the same reasons Europe is backing Ukraine*: It’s good value for weakening their enemies and getting their allies to owe them. If anything they could afford to do more; aside from sending good vibes their way their relationship with Russia is basically business as usual AFAIK, so they’re actually making money here. Not that I’m defending what they’re doing to be clear, but it makes so much sense geopolitically that it’s hard to imagine them behaving in any other way.

*Europeans might want to back Ukraine for human rights and stuff, but it’s fairly clear that their governments are doing so to keep Russia away.

  • First, get a food processor if you don’t have one. It’s insane how much you can do with one of those. Second, If you can get lentils, yellow lentil soup is tasty and dead easy to make. You can use the food professor for this instead of a blender, and I put carrots (small one or half a big one for three servings) in mine with the onions but you don’t have to do that. Add hot sauce/pepper to taste and eat with flatbread. Third, better too little spice than too much, but generally make sure to taste your food throughout every step of the process so you can adjust as needed. Basically everything (except sweets) will taste terrible without salt so keep that in mind before assuming you messed up. Also don’t forget to eat protein; pasta and sauce isn’t a full meal. Finally, most recipes you’ll find on the internet don’t need all the spices listed; salt and black pepper will get you 90% of the way there.

Edit: Oh also if you have a good relationship with someone who cooks ask them to teach you. Nothing beats hands-on experience here.

  • It’s a metric of progress(speed).

I mean, that’s how you get good standards of living. You can also look up its GDP per capita, which isn’t high but is definitely respectable. In that case though you can look up China’s HDI. There’s just no metric by which China is failing the majority of its citizens (emphasis on majority; of course Uighurs for example will feel differently).

It also doesn’t punish an export economy without domestic consumption

That doesn’t make sense though. Exports bring in money which can be used to import stuff or for domestic consumption. A strong export economy leads to good standards of living.

  • I think you should research a topic in Slovenia specifically more deeply.

No, you should back up your assertions with data. Assuming what you’re saying is true, though, let’s try this:

If you have a few kids social support in slovenia is comparable to minimal wage. […] Would you work if you would get the same money if you did not?

Then the question becomes: Why is the money they’d get if they worked minimum wage? That’s your problem right there.

And with our prisons full, lots of crime was reduced to fines. So criminals in those communities were never punished.

Yeah that sounds like a problem. Nothing to do with social welfare though.

And allow yourself to put words like “dirty Gypsie” in my mounth.

I didn’t put them in your mouth; I put them in the mouth of wherever you’re getting your information. You seem to be well-meaning, but the stereotypes you’re parroting (which, again, show up everywhere, so this isn’t something unique about Slovenia) do come from the kind of people who would be mad at dirty Gypsies for stealing their tax money.
