  • Totally depends on the store you’re shopping at, foremost. Then secondarily what products you’re buying.

Where I live, self checkout is usually faster but I’ll still go through a regular line periodically. Frankly though I’m just picking up groceries most of the time at this point. It’s easy and if the people grabbing you things have a touch of empathy you get fine looking produce and meats too.

Anyways, you’re right it is definitely heavily dependent on where you live. Hell some places, especially in upper middle class areas, have a lot of the detection shit turned off (like you can actively put wrong weight stuff in or bypass the scans entirely - there’s a chance you may still get flagged but it’ll let you finish the order up before someone comes to put a code in to override it).

I guess if you’re going to commit petty theft I’d suggest you buy a decent outfit from a second hand store and go to a nicer grocery store self checkout.

  • Jesus Christ that’s crazy. Like actually crazy not just funny crazy.

will metaphorically burn the world around them to get what they believe they deserve. Much like the current US president.

Tell me about it. I have folks who (probably) voted for Trump telling me they’re worried about the food supply … These are the consequences for our politics and for electing Trump. Himself and his admin are only doing what they said they would. Which is awful.

  • Well, I was making a joke. Obviously people should be careful with who they share themselves with and use their best judgment.

Also I’m sorry for whoever hurt you, I’m not going through your account history but based on this comment it sounds like maybe you had to deal with some narcissist bullshit first hand. Me too, so best of luck and hopefully it has or will get better.

They’re talking about the actual capitalist borgeousie though … They can go. Rich people been fucking the rest of us since forever and it’s some bullshit.

Like, if you’re working a job to earn money you’re by definition not a capitalist. It’s not about killing a ton of people but these lecherous monsters who steal our value and give us a fraction and say “you’re welcome for being exploited” have got to go.

  • I’m in the same group. My kid is pretty young (just turning into a toddler) but I could see possibly needing to leash his ass in the future. I also would laugh my ass off if someone asked me in public if he was a stray or made some other joke about it.

Can’t take life too seriously but I get people might feel like the joke is insensitive. I suppose I also have a horrible sense of humor and what I find funny might be actually offensive to others at times so … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Nah see my other comment. You don’t own shit on Steam. In fact the agreement specifically says you may need to use the client and be connected to the Internet in order to even play your games. Like if steam shut down tomorrow and just stopped existing it’s very possible they could legally just give you the middle finger and say sucks for you.

IANAL and there’s more to it than just the contract you have with Valve as far as the law goes but the way the contract is written you have no ownership of anything on the platform.

  • The Sony policy is much more shady.

    It’s not.

There’s a lot more in the agreement but this is the start of the licensing part.

Valve hereby grants, and you accept, a non-exclusive license and right, to use the Content and Services for your personal, non-commercial use (except where commercial use is expressly allowed herein or in the applicable Subscription Terms). This license ends upon termination of (a) this Agreement or (b) a Subscription that includes the license. The Content and Services are licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Content and Services. To make use of the Content and Services, you must have a Steam Account and you may be required to be running the Steam client and maintaining a connection to the Internet.

    (Emphasis mine)
