Pretty glorious tool if I’m being honest, so many useful things for an IT person to play with.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•It's not even out yet, but Valve's Deadlock just became one of the most played games on Steam [228k players peak reached]English
4·6 days agoI’m 1,000,000% cool with both open and closed beta’s, but when a “closed” beta breaks records of online players like that, is it actually closed? The game has been throughly documented before its release… Feels like reading a booked based on a movie after watching the movie.

8·7 days agoYeah, I feel the same way. Definitely puts an odd taste in the mouth the way they are doing it. Thankfully there are more games out there, due to life I probably have nearly 1,000 unplayed games in my Steam library.

3·7 days agoYeah, I’m just hearing about it and it looks pretty cool, but the weird way they are doing this feels too odd for me. It makes me want to play it but know I never will.
I fucked up a meal so bad thinking I was doing good, I literally didn’t have to cook for the first decade of my marriage. We’ve been happily married for over 21 years now, I think the best friend and always wanting her to have the best life she could helped the most.
Took many years but I did eventually realize the best thing might in fact be the thing she suggests over the logical answer, but people really can get better with time.
I’ve had a few hatchbacks and live them, though for now I just have a trunk and two doors on my daily. Thank you for being one of the few people that don’t tower over the rest of us on the road!
As messed up as it sounds, after our last move the company bringing our stuff didn’t bring a small truck and their big one couldn’t make it up our steep driveway. In steps my wife with her Scion xD, the baby sister of your xB, and managed to drive everything up hanging out the back (many many trips, no fridge though).
My brother had a 90s Toyota with a 5 speed and the full 8’ I believe. We did small town construction and it was perfect for general lumber/ladders/groceries/etc.
It also had suffered a bad repair job in a backyard shop at some point and would kind of shibby down the road a little sideways. Insanely reliable though.

Technology@lemmy.world•Winamp will be reborn in 2027 to take on streamingEnglish
4·15 days agoYeah, I loved winamp back in the day, but it’s been a quarter of a century and now it’s primary purpose (the ability to play mp3’s) is no longer it’s primary purpose. If I’m looking for another music player, it’s primary purpose needs to be playing music files, not trying to convince me to sign up for another shitty service.

2·15 days agoThanks for the encouragement! I bought a couple mini pc’s and one server seems fine going from a lot of memory to just 16GB. Now I guess I need to start parting that one out to pay for a more efficient storage server.

1·26 days agoWorked for dubya… Twice if I remember right.
Man I eventually stopped fighting that hurdle and just changed the login screen to say “Broken-ass auth” so I remember that one is different. I’m the only person using it at my house and recently went back to a car with a CD player and USB port for infotainment (such a refreshing change after a decade and a half of screens in my face) so I haven’t bothered to go back to fix it.
MySQL would love this kind of recognition, instead it just gets turned into "My"SQL.
That song has lived rent free in my head for a long time.

Nah, if the self checkout pos freaks out and needs someone, just move your stuff to the next one over. Someone will come fix that one eventually; no harm in leaving it to sing the song of “an item has been removed from the bagging area” to its people, you and your stuff just shifted 3 feet to try a different checkout lane. If anyone complains just tell them the cashier waved you over, it’s all good.
