Yeah no one here is confusing the two. A lot of people however do seem to miss that to investors (of all sectors, not just AI) running at a deficit is not necessarily something to shy away from. Most companies that are expanding extremely fast are run at deficits because building out a company usually costs more than it initially makes. So if you can show high revenue and in particular YoY growth (and they actually do) being at a deficit is not as big of an issue to investors.

If this future AI agent solves the task at a fraction of the time, it can still be financially viable at several times the cost.

This seems highly location/payment system dependent. You can’t do it where I live, the CC terminals require the final amount to be sent to them before it will accept a card, if you scan your CC before the final amount is sent to the terminal it just gets ignored and a CC will still be requested once the cashier has sent the final amount to the terminal.

As if billionaires are the only greedy sociopaths in society. Remember they have thousands of “ordinary” people working for them, willingly and knowingly deciding to aid them in making the world a worse place. Removing the billionaire doesn’t guarantee that these people are removed.

Amazon seems to be riding on the desperation of poor uneducated people. When you can choose between starving homelessness for you and your kids and working at amazon, your ideals tend to take a backseat. And Amazon works hard to break your spirit and perpetually keep you that desperate.

I much more blame the people willingly using their services. Stop buying shit from amazon.
