  • Life is so complicated, especially now that I guess we’re kind of tasked with imparting some knowledge on our kids. I try to think about how I learned, and I like to think it was entirely from experience, but you absolutely absorb some of what you hear and see from your parents.

I tell them to be giving, but sometimes you have to be selfish; be nice, but sometimes you gotta be firm with people. I basically tell them every person is out there living their own life, they have their own motivations, and you can’t waste time wondering what someone else’s definition of right and wrong is, and to just stick to your guns and don’t be a doormat. And then I second guess myself, because I still have no idea what’s going on.

Yeah, I dunno. If you’re 16, maybe have some scruples about who you fuck. Unfortunately, other 16 year olds will be cruel about shit. And this ain’t to say don’t fuck the weird, ugly, whoever, just have a good reason for doing it, I guess, you care about the person or some shit.

If you’re 26, go out there and have fun, nothing matters and your peer group has matured and nobody gives a fuck.

I know that seems sad, but it’s also reality, and I’m going to unfortunately have to coach my daughter in such a way that she avoids some shit that I witnessed in high school, the same shit I know many people here witnessed. And if the way to avoid being that victim is to maybe be choosy (or maybe don’t go fucking people til you’re a bit older, which is also going to be my advice with drugs and alcohol), then do that.

  • Curious where you get your casings, or who makes them. And I only ask because I’m from New Jersey, and the town I live in (basically) hosts the company Viscofan, which produces something like 35-40% of casings globally, and 2.1 billion meters of sausage casings. I only know because it’s on a route that I run, and I’d pass this building all the time and got curious about what it does, only to learn it’s such a large player in the meat-casing industry.

I am a lover of sausages. My preference is always to head to a local butcher to get them, the quality and taste are superior ten times out of ten.

Thanks for bringing sausage awareness to the Fediverse.

  • Yeah, ours is fortunately a State Park, and gets maintained. The path is about 4-6 feet wide, depending, pea gravel the whole way, so good for walking, biking, whatever. You’ll see people on the canal in the warmer months. It’s a great resources and I’m fortunate to live so close to it.

Go out there and make the Friends of the Canal group, and demand the change to a maintained canal!
