Same with conservatives in Europe – and it’s also the same with government efficiency. They get “issue ownership” because they talk about it a lot, but I’ve never heard of conservative politicians who’ve actually made government more efficient.
What’s the case for The Prince being sarcastic? I realize it’s quite different from his Discourses on Livy, but I’ve read it as being more of a “extreme measures for an extreme situation” kind of deal. He does write in the Discourses that a sufficiently corrupted society could require a monarch using extreme and unusual means.
ah, yeah that makes sense

yeah, the graph of his approval ratings kind of confirms that: up when there’s elections, and then down when he’s in power
In a lot of places, not just far-right assholes, the word “woke” has taken on the role of terms like “social justice warrior” and “political correctness” - i.e. in describing a self-righteous, superficial, performative and preachy kind of style.
Yes, that is not what the word “originally” meant, yes it is partially the result of right wing propaganda, yes “political correctness” and “sjw” have similar issues, but it is still a real thing.
What the man seems to me to be trying to say is that their goal was to do a medieval gay romance in a way that was not preachy or superficial – is that not good? Isn’t there a bit too much token representation and pinkwashing going on?
The Trump administration has been pretty shit at militarism so far, I consider that a good thing when it comes to fascists. Hopefully this continues the trend.
