As much as it pains me to have this thought, there are adults running around today who were very small children in 2004.

3·17 days agoTwo games I will suggest:
“Captain of Industry” is a colony sim/automation game, in addition to production you also must care for a population of workers. Production is more complicated than, say, Factorio because most thing have a waste product.
“The Last Caretaker” is a bit different, you’re a robot, on a boat, after the end of the world. You run around fixing machines, fixing your boat, and you sail to locations to find resources to do whatever it is you were built for. There are things that will attack you but that isn’t what the game is about.
Now Im going to lurk your thread for more suggestions.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People say they will do anything for their children. It is easy to do grand gestures, but hard to keep healthy and alive for them. Will you eat better? Exercise? Sleep more?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something that's crazier than the wildest dreams of any ~1970s nerd, but exists today? I'll start with an easy one:
14·20 days ago1980’s nerd here.
I fly camera drones, sometimes for money. I can buy a DJI mini 3 for under $400 US, and it is capable of taking perfectly steady video and pictures even in a pretty good wind. It will also stay in one spot in midair for close to half an hour before the battery runs down.
And a DJI mini 3 is a cheap beginner camera drone.

10·20 days agoMy wife and I have a game we play sometimes. We pick a title, and then we have a sort of race: can we find a way to watch something the “right” way before we are able to torrent it?

4·20 days agoI’ve heard plenty of times in the past that truckers will strike over this or that, and I’d like to actually see it happen. It would stop everything in three days or so.
Usually what happens is we get a couple of videos of truckers going slow and blocking the highway, but not much else.

2·22 days agoFaraday. 😋
It would be catastrophic around densly populated areas, and be easier but still hard for rural residents. It would be a while before the lights came back on.

A few times Ive had to tell my other half “Can we talk about literally anything else for the next hour”. I know what is going on because of the things you pointed out, and sometimes I want to exist for five minutes without hearing that the fbi is hiring puppy fuckers or whatever is happening today.
