I don’t think they would so that. Kelog has calmed down a lot over the last few years.

Technology@lemmy.world•Retailers are pulling back from self-checkout after years of theft, errors, and questionable time savingsEnglish
4·2 days agoThey can, but if they ban you for not allowing them to check, that’s illegal, and you can sue. If they ban you for theft, they need the cops to prove it.
Keep in mind, you must be kind when you refuse. A nice smile and kind “no thank you” is enough. If you’re combative, they can ban you for that. If they’re dicks that ban for the sake of banning, fuck em

71·2 days agoIs it a subscription based store, like a Costco?
If so, you signed up for the cart checks. The only thing you can do is not shop there.
If not, once you pay for it, it’s yours, and they have no legal right to touch it or check it unless you give them permission.
All you have to do is kindly say “no thank you” and keep walking. If they stop you, they’re violating other laws.
If they suspect you of theft, they can calls the cops. Otherwise, they must let you pass. The corpos and cops know the laws and, as such, your rights. It’s time we all know them, too, so we can put them (corpos and cops) all in their place on the ground.

44·3 days agoI don’t understand what people have against Al. I thought we all loved Al. Al is the coolest. A little weird, but I mean, that’s Al’s appeal.

And, now, us.
It’s by design. If you missed the first round of those six stories, you can just listen to them in 20 minutes. If you get distracted on story number three, you got 20 minutes to go before the next time story number three comes out. It’s designed for ads, like you said, not for information.
If you use metric on the regular, you converted from metric to imperial on the fly, and ended up with lbs because your brain went “kilo to… lb, that’s it”. Hahahaha that’s me quite often hahahhaa

2·5 days agoNot TMI at all! This was super interesting! I did video editing for a while, and always converted to WAV before importing into Final Cut or Adobe Premiere, but that was more because MP3 files always lagged and (with AP) caused crashes sometimes. Yes, this was years ago. I will stick to FLAC!

6·5 days agoAn “AI” agent does what it’s told. It doesn’t “go rogue”, because it can’t think, so it literally can’t go rogue. This is just another case of these megacorpos conducting illegal hacking campaigns and blaming their computer. If a normie did this, they’d be in prison faster than the autocapcha solvers solve those shits. Why is altman et al not in prison? (rhetorical).
