Most CPUs implement a strategy called “race-to-sleep,” where it throws all the resources it has at a computing task, to finish it as fast as possible, so that it can hurry back to a low power sleep mode.
For that reason, optimizing speed often improves battery life.
Most cad software is single threaded, well most of it is, there are parts that are multi threaded but in general single threaded. So in my case single core speed is extremely important, it’s more important than a GPU. And I mean an actual GPU, I can get away with integrated graphics, but single core speed is the killer
No but it gives an example of why single threaded can matter, and as it’s apple I’m going to assume the arm based A20 is similar to the arm based M series chips.
I’m sure many will disagree but I don’t see a point to this; it’s neat I guess but why?
Edir: Well, I’m listening…
More speed means you can do more stuff faster
What stuff are you doing on your phone that wasn’t fast enough already?
