Oh yeah, the AI companies realized this from the start, maybe not that it would happen this quickly, but that it would happen.
This is why they are hyping AI up further now, as they want to squeeze the final drop of blood from the stone.

Holocaust 2.0?
Also, I use one criteria for defining an adult:
“An adult is a person who understands when it is apropriate to be childish”
Just telling others to “Grow up” means that you have a lot of growing up to do yourself.

I have said it before and I’ll way it again, an adblocker has gone from simply being a nuisance blocker to being an essential tool for not only privacy but also security.
My counterpoint to any website whining about you blocking their ads is this:
Untill website owners take full legal and financial responsibillity for any dammages the ads presented on their website causes my computer or property due to infected ads or an infected website, I won’t even consider disabling my adblocker, I still probably won’t, but I’ll consider it.
Sorry, but no, if I am running a company’s IT department, I don’t care about the official standards, I care about how well the software will work with actual reality.
And if a random hyper compliant communications software won’t work with Outlook, then it is rejected out of hand.
So, while your oppinion might be accurate in terms of idiology, but that fails to account for real life
The question still remains, I would not use a client that the most common email client is incompatible with.
Regardless of if the most common cliebt is idiotic, it is still the de facto standard.
True, but why would any email client just ignore that crucial peice of data from the most common email client?
Even if the devs dislike it, ignoring it would only make it seem as if your client is the one with the issues.
The organizer would have to deliberately disable the reminder…

This is actually what pisses me off with modern tech, we have soo much computing power that we have forgotten to properly optimize.
What used to be a software problem, writing code efficiently has turned into a hardware problem, with only one solution:
Throw more computing power at it.
You do get a reminder 15 min before the meeting, where you cqn access the meeting and all the details.

Ok, so spreadsheets are maybe not brilliant for the job, but if there is no alternative then there is little point in bashing them

You have yet to suggest an alternative, you just told me why you think it is bad, not what should be used instead

Ok, if a spreadsheet is a stupid way to deal with most data, what do you suggest is used instead?

From an ideological viewpoint, I agree fully.
From a technical viewpoint, Excel is still the best by far.
For a normal office worker, LibreOffice Calc is all they need out of a spreadsheet software.
But those working in finance or in other power user roles will either not be able to switch or have a very hard time switching from Excel.
Calc is a brilliant program, there is no denying that, but it is far from a drop in replacement for Excel

It is the “Eye of providence”:
I remember reading a thread on Swedish computer forum.
There was a guy who had “compressed” his whole media livrary and saved it to a floppy disk, reinstalled his computer and now wanted to restor the media files…
Yeah, what he had done was to misunderstand what an MD5 hash was, he thought it was an extremely efficient compression algorithm…
And this is one of the many reasons I tell people that “an untested backup does not exist”
I seem to recall reading about Swiss workers swimming home in the river after work, the current carried them the right way and it seemed brilliant

Yeah, all of these news articles about AI going “rouge” and attacking other companies and even the government happening at roughly the same time, without any real evidence to show what actually happened to trigger the events…
I am hammering X like I was performing the intro to the song Them Kinda Monkeys Can’t Swing by Slade, as I keep reading about this crap.
For reference, here is the song mentioned above:

Don’t forget whoever instructed it to preform the action.
An LLM can’t just unprompted get the idea to do this.
Blanket statement by AI bro?
Yawn.
