I know why it happens, but I still hate it.

This is honestly why I hate most sales people. I wish they were actually knowledgeable about the products, listened to what I need, then gave recommendations that fit those needs.
That basically never happens outside of very niche products though. They either will just try to sell the most expensive thing that vaguely resembles something I want, or will know nothing and rely solely on what I choose. Basically makes most sales people detrimental instead of helpful.

Technology@lemmy.world•Data Centers Are Hiding How Much Water and Power They ConsumeEnglish
8·6 days agoI agree. However, people should be aware that even if their city or county reports water and power usage, the numbers are useless without third party independent verification. They have already shown they are happy to break the law, cheat the system, steal, hide, whatever it takes.

Technology@lemmy.world•Data Centers Are Hiding How Much Water and Power They ConsumeEnglish
48·6 days agoThat is usually true, but I’m pretty sure there was a story a while back where inspectors found a water line being tapped and no record of it every having been done or approved. And for power, some of them are using their own power generation, despite how dirty that is, so the city/county would have no record of how much power is used.
There is absolutely massive amounts of corruption and collusion happening though. Not trying to minimize that. Just want a complete picture of how much the oligarchs are willing to cheat, bend, or break the system to achieve their goals.
Seems to fit better with the US government trampling on their citizens rights, destroying every international diplomacy norm, accelerating the destruction of the environment, and all around being comical levels of evil. And the opposition has largely done nothing because they are trying maintain decorum and not upset corporate donors while being steamrolled by fascism.
That’s because you rise through the ranks through nepotism or by being a sycophant. It is very rarely due to critical thinking skills, intelligence, or mastery of the industry.

The earth is moving rapidly around the sun, so anything we launch is already orbiting the sun. To hit the sun you then have to counteract all that momentum. To escape the solar system you just have to add a bit more speed to what we already have. Though both take a lot of energy.

35·1 month agoEvan Meyer, 24, faces counts of criminal mischief causing more than $1,000 in damage, grand theft involving property valued between $750 and $5,000, and damaging or taking a computer, electronic device, or related equipment.
It wasn’t $1,000 in damage, it wasn’t property valued at $750 - $5,000, and it wasn’t a computer, electronic device, or related equipment. So if the judge does anything other than throw out the charges it is corruption. Those charges shouldn’t have even been brought.

65·1 month agoYes, and it being a 3d printed decoy means it is worth almost nothing. Its a broken bit of plastic that is probably worth less than $5.

1171·1 month agoIt really isn’t clever. It was privately printed and installed without government approval. So the only reason this is being charged as a felony at all is corruption.
Someone destroyed illegally installed private property that is worth maybe a few dollars. That is barely even a crime and certainly not a felony.

14·2 months agoWhat better hardware? Google is getting increasingly hostile to Graphene. Pixel hardware also seems to be getting worse. And since Pixel is currently the only hardware you can install Graphene on, this is a beneficial thing that provides an alternative that doesn’t give money to Google.
Or you could just be open and honest with your partner. If they are the type to try to play mind games or set conversational traps, then they are a shit partner anyway.
How can it be both ‘New’ and ‘Classic’?

Not tone deaf. Just greedy and don’t actually give a fuck about their customers. Which is why they tried to kill the Chevy bolt, got rid of car play in the EVs and possibly other vehicles, have prioritized large trucks and SUVs because they get better profit margins. And that is just off the top of my head. I’m surr I could come up with more.
