what does the community actually expect from devs

I don’t think the average self-hoster actually realises what’s going on in the dev community. ‘Vibe coding’ is very different from AI-assisted workflows. All but the most die-hard devs are using AI in some way.

‘No AI whatsoever’ is unrealistic and if that’s your red line you’re gonna see a smaller and smaller pool of things you can download and use.

  • • Yes, but I also use podman on another machine.

    • Proxmox server hosts LXC’s and a few VMs.

    • Proxmox makes it extremely easy to run and manage containerised workloads. Set it up in a flash and it runs happily, no intervention necessary. Podman containers on the other hand can be tricky to set up, but I prefer the controls I have on that machine. If it needs to be secure I Podman it, if not I just stick it in a Proxmox LXC.
