  • A man comes to a rabbi and complains about a dispute he is having with another man. He explains his side. The rabbi listens and says, “You are right.”
Then the other man comes to the rabbi and gives his side of the story. The rabbi listens and says, “You are right.”
The rabbi’s wife, who has been listening, says: “But they can’t both be right!” The rabbi considers this and says: “You are right, too.”

Just FYI, the Alpha Pack Theory has been thoroughly discredited

that is completely irrelevant to the point i am making. the dog should still not set the rules of the household and enforce them with their teeth, because if you let such behaviour continue, it will sooner or later get someone hurt and the dog euthanized.

    She snaps she growls
She has very strong opinions about what the pack should be doing

that’s neither acceptable nor cute. dog is not the one who should be making decisions about what the pack is doing. you should do something about it before it ends bad for the dog and/or someone else.

  • he was also creep to living person on the holodeck and when that person found out, he tried to guilt-trip her with “i am guilty of reaching out to you”. the author’s intention was to create “shy guy unlucky in love”, but ended up with creepy incel (before the term was cool). the character aged about as well as the “joke” we are talking about.

  • it’s not as lighthearted if you think about it too much, especially with a modern lens

that’s an understatement. it aged as well as geordi from tng.

The point is saying that’s the same as the bear thing is super dismissive to the whole point of that thought experiment.

it is not the same as bear, it is worse. because now there is a person falling out of the plane that is panicking from two different things, the fall itself, and the attack she just underwent.

seriously saying “yes, he attacked her, but he did it to help her achieve her goals” is pure insanity and people saying that are exactly the people the women are running from towards the bear.

it is also quite stupid on a factual level. if she decides she does not want to jump, its her decision, she already paid and the instructor does not really give a shit. throwing terrified beginner out of the plane is not a good idea.

  • which is one of the reason why arranged marriages could actually work for some, which seems to surprise lot of people. the fresh romance in a relationship will ultimately fade away and then it is really up to both of you if you want to put in the work to maintain the relationship. the people in arranged marriages just had to put it this work from the start.

  • so…

As an easter egg, the high-resolution (pixel-doubled) version of the comic is merely the comic resized to 50% and then to 400%, making it an image of poorer quality rather than a higher resolution image as for other comics, demonstrating how repeated image scaling can also introduce artifacts into images. There appears to be another easter egg in which between 21 November 2016 and 10 December 2016 (both Internet Archive pages), the original hi-res image was replaced by the pixel-doubled image. However, the image URL below the comic still links to the hi-res image.

The img-tag also includes the pixel-doubled version as a srcset-attribute: srcset=“//imgs.xkcd.com/comics/digital_data_2x.png 2x” This causes browsers on high-resolution displays (pixel density ratio 2) to show the low-quality version of the image instead of the standard-quality one and leads to people re-visiting the comic on modern displays to experience degradation compared to the remembered version.
